Pemimpin Kelab UMNO UK Anggap Mahathir 'Sama Hebat' Dengan Hitler

Thank you. Its thank you my first chosen words because you, the reader have caught an interest in reading my manifesto. But it is common sense to know that ‘What the eyes see, the mind believes’. Besides what the mind believes, there must be other attraction/s to ‘ignite the spark of our neurons’. Then again, an attraction originates from the word ‘quality’ of the subject being focused on. Well it comes to the question why? Why are you attracted to the name VERD. If you did not, at least your body language shows. Or even if you have no choice? Then it is still your move my friend. Now you’ve decided to read and ‘thou whilst not be disappointed is my word for thee’. Maybe you’ve known me for long as a friend, or maybe you’ve seen me somewhere doing something. As I am going to run for the post of the President, I need to tell of whatever ‘attractions’ and ‘qualities’ as I’ve mentioned above to make me fit for the chair of the President of Malaysian Students Society of Manchester. I am not as great as George Washington, Dr. Mahathir or Adolf Hitler, but to tell you all, I have a dream to join their ranks. It takes more than a post in the society. It takes courage, bravery and endurance. It takes a great effort. This is my effort. This is my manifesto.

Born on the 8th of August 1981 in Kuala Lumpur, the 5th child of Ahmad Hj. Sulaiman receives his early education at SRK St. Joseph, Johor Bahru from Standard 1 to Standard 3 and SRK Kulai (1), Kulai, Johor from Standard 4 till UPSR. I obtained 4As in my UPSR and The Best Overall Student Award that won me a place in one of the government boarding school, SBP. In this very place is where my true oratory skills, sportsmanship and leadership values were enhanced. The years of 1994-1998 are the glory years for me. The story starts here..

The name of my secondary school is Sekolah Alam Shah, Kuala Lumpur. It is more known to all as SASKL or SAS. I couldn’t do much during my junior years but the Form 3 year was when I made my kick-off. It was on the year of 1996 that I was selected to be in my school’s English debate team. Although as an observer during the Piala Perdana Menteri in MCKK, I helped the team a lot and managed to get a taste of fiery debates between two opposing teams which, in order to survive have to defend their motion and attack the opposition with ideas and points. The ideas and points must come out from the brain spontaneously. I started to join the school’s debate team in Form 4 and finally lead the team in Form 5-1998, which to my team’s highest achievement is semi-finalist Piala Perdana Menteri 1998. Lost to the team from Sekolah Tun Fatimah, STFJB. Therefore I can conclude that my past experiences and achievements in English Debate gave me confidence when giving a talk in public, allow me to express my ideas clearly without hesitation and strengthened my hold on my stand. Regardless of whoever comes against me, no matter big or small, weak or mighty, my stand is my stand. And that stand makes me, my own unique self and identity.

During the years in school, I was active in rugby and basketball. For my school years, rugby was my second life after academics. Debate is also assumed as academic to me. I started my career in rugby during my Form 3 years. Playing for the school’s Under-15 team and made it to the quarter finals in KRM-Milo Malaysian Rugby Championship at the end of the year. When I was in Form 5, I represented SAS in rugby until we became the Champion in the Premier Cup Rugby Finals between SAS and the Royal Military College in 1998. A plate cup was added to the exhibition board when we won the SEMSAS 7’s Invitation in Kuantan. My carreer in rugby outshined the most when I was selected as the National Player to the Singapore 7’s and Hadyai 7’s later in September 1998. Besides rugby, I represented my A-levels college, Kolej Matrikulasi Yayasan Saad, Lembah Beringin in the Basketball team. Why? The college doesn’t have a rugby pitch at my time lar….now only they want to make one. A year after I left. Still want to play something. That’s why I played basketball instead.

Leadership comes in many forms and in many constitutions. I was a leader in the smallest group such as a laboratory group and I have lead the whole bunch of students during my years at school in SAS, until the present day in Kelab UMNO Salford dan Manchester. I was the Societies and Clubs Exco of the Student Council of my school when I won the election, using my ticket as The President of The English Society(ELS) I was selected as the Ketua Umum or Head-boy of my school. Being second in command after the Head-prefect, I lead the Student Council trough one of its most glorious years in handling major activities such as Karnival Pakaian Seragam Wilayah Persekutuan and Pesta Kebudayaan Jepun.

When I left school, I received a scholarship from Yayasan Pelajaran Johor(YPJ) to pursue a pre-university course in a college of my choice. I chose KMYS because I am confident, that this college will bring me the chance to become a better person and get a better scholarship. I did my A-levels in Pure Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Computing in 18 months period. I was determined to do what I need and want to do, and alas, praise to Allah the almighty; I was offered the PETRONAS scholarship to pursue my degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manchester in 2001. After my results of 4As, I departed to the UK alongside my PETRONAS colleagues to continue our perjuangan. And that is why I am here. Writing this manifesto for you people.

One of my ability that lies among the best is my social skills and public relations. I like to meet and get along with people. So many people and get as many friends as I could and my mind can remember( although I don’t have a memory like a Nokia 7650 mobile phone which can store up to 400 names and contacts). I can also lead a cheerleading team, remember Notts games people? I have to yell else no way can it be done. Kalah teruk la nanti.

In Manchester, I started to get involve in Kelab UMNO Salford and Manchester (KUSMA). It is the noblest place to start my leadership career among the Malaysian people in the UK. It doesn’t take long for me to get to know everyone in KUSMA. After the Annual General Meeting, I was selected to be the Information Chief or Ketua Penerangan which is the third man in command and also responsible for the information department. Among my tasks that I’ve performed very well is for handling KUSMA’s activities throughout the year. In December 2001, I helped Kelab UMNO UK dan Eire, the flagship body for all Kelab UMNO in the UK and Eire to organise a major Khemah Ibadah Semarak Ramadhan for all its committees throughout the UK. The event was attended by nearly a hudred people from Kelab UMNOs all over the UK. Later in March 2002, I was the Deputy Organiser for Karnival Bola Sepak Piala Perantau KUSMA 2002 which was held at Stretford Leisure Centre, Manchester. The carnival is a major football event that attracted twelve Asians and Malaysians 11-a-side football teams such as Nottingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and several others.

Karnival Bola Sepak Piala Perantau KUSMA was sponsored by His Majesty The Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah. The second consecutive success of Piala Perantau proved that I can organise a major sports event. Following Piala Perantau, the Malaysia Supporters Club was established in July 2002 to provide Malaysian crowds support for our contingent during the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games which KUSMA became the back-bone of the club. I organised a launching event for the Club which took place at the hall of Masjid Al-Hizra, Cheetham Hill. The VIP that launched the ceremony was our Minister of Youth and Sports himself, Dato’ Hishamuddin Tun Hussein. My part in the Malaysia Supporters Club was quite important as I designed the official clubs shirt that have ‘Malaysia Boleh’ imprinted in front and the Manchester 2002 logo at the back. I also designed the stage backdrops and the buku cenderamata for the launching ceremony. This turned out to be another of my quality which is creative designing.

KUSMA turned out to be the summarising platform that tested all of my qualities that I’ve polished throughout the years. My skills in debate was tested at Forum Demokrasi UK in November where I made a shocking reveal of the true face of the forum which was illegal and proved to be an act of treason to the people and government of Malaysia in the UK. This was done by asking the panellist some ‘killer questions’ and arguing on their motions as debaters always do. My skill in leadership was tested during those major events like Khemah Ibadah, Piala Perantau and Paintballing in Birmingham. My social and public relations were tested when I was assigned to pick up new students at the airport and arranged for their welfare in their first year in Manchester. Earlier on, my skills in creative design during the Malaysian Supporters Club’s activities during the games.

If I win this election as your new president, I will improve on many of the weaknesses of past committees of the Malaysian Students Society of Manchester. Events such as our Malaysian Night will be upgraded to ‘Malam Citrawarna Malaysia-Manchester 2003’, which is my plan with HE The High Commissioner for Malaysia and the Malaysian Tourism Board in Trafalgar Square, London. The Malam Citrawarna will comprise of dozens of dancers, featuring our culture in Malaysia and hopefully, will be made more colourful by our invited artists from Malaysia. The Malam Citrawarna will also take place between the two days of this year’s proposed Piala Perantau which is going to be a two day event. Imagine how Whitworth Hall and Manchester will look like if that night is going to be a reality. How is it going to become one? You know the answer and who to vote.

Several other aspects such as career development among Malaysians will also be held under my administration. Courses such as interview training, Malaysian tutor-tutee experience sharing session before the final exams and career opportunities will be obtained straight from the Malaysian Students Department(MSD) and distributed among the graduating Malaysian Students. An advantage for the members of MSS as well. Lets just make use of all the opportunities being given to us by our beloved country and government. We are Malaysians and we have the right to those great chances and facilities. How do we get it? By choosing the right administration for MSSM.

During the religious celebrations, I will organise official events for us to celebrate the festive seasons and be as happy as our families back in Malaysia. For this coming month, our official Christmas and Hari Raya Banquet will be arranged. Sorry for we missed Deepavali this year. Come again the Chinese New Year Celebrations and continuously throughout the year. I missed ketupat, lemang, satay and rendang. So want to taste those? Don’t forget our MSSM Hari Raya Open House coming soon.

Well, I think that is all I have to make known to all of you. There is only one phrase to describe me, ‘He who never gives up’. My motto in life is ‘Nothing is impossible’. Those are my stands in managing organisation or leading my people. If I am given the responsibility, I will never, and I mean never put the hopes of the people that voted for me in the first place aside. I will never put anyone in my team down. As I did now, before and in the future. With the blessings of Allah, I pray for the well being of you people. Again I bid,

THANK YOU and PLEASE…………………………Vote for me!!!!!
