Berikut diforwardkan dari news group
"soc.culture.malaysia" perbincangan menarik (dalam
bahasa Inggeris) mengenai krisis curi senjata tentera
yang mengempar negara sekarang ini. Perbincangan jelas
mencerminkan betapa rakyat sudah tidak lagi percaya
dan yakin dengan Dr Mahathir dan pemimpin negara yang
lain-lain. Gamaknya kalau Dr Mahathir umumkan Malaysia
diserang pun ramai dikalangan rakyat akan curiga.
Inilah padahnya apabila Dr Mahathir dan pemimpin
negara yang lain-lain telah berulangkali melakukan
fitnah, mengkhianati dan bercakap bohong. Kredibiliti
punah, musnah berkecai.
Arms theft something stage-managed??
The arms theft seemed all so very easily carried out.
It makes me wonder and my mind to wander. The more I
look at it, the more I tended to suspect the
following:
1. This possibly could be stage-managed. It looked so
damn simple to pull off.
2. Usually the government controlled mainstream media
would be silent on this kind of slip up. However, the
arms theft is given wide publicity as if there is a
hidden agenda to it all.
If it were stage-managed by the government the
following could be the underlying motives.
1. To scare the people into believing that the country
is under some kind of threat, i.e to suggest the
existence of a clandestine armed guerilla movement
that intends to topple the government. More scary
(especially to the Chinese and Indians) would be to
link the arms theft to the existence of an Islamic
terrorist group. Islamic opposition party, PAS, and
Keadilan Party would be portrayed as secretly backing
this underground movement paving the way for PAS and
Keadilan leaders to be arrested under the ISA, perhaps
eventually banning PAS and Keadilan as political
parties. (Bear in mind that PAS had warned it would
wage the holy war, jihad, if UMNO's Islam bashing were
to be intensified and if UMNO's intention to ban the
use of Islam in the name of a political party is
implemented. Given this warning issued by PAS the
government can easily influence the people into
believing that the arms theft was the work of PAS
members preparing for the jihad).
2. Arms theft provides good justification not only for
continuation but strengthening of ISA with perhaps new
provisions such as pre-emptive detention of opposition
politicians whom the government believe are potential
trouble makers or extending the initial detention
period without trial from the existing 2 to 3 years or
more.
3. Create the story that the stolen weapons are meant
to knock off the Prime Minister and hence justify
funds for the increase security required by the PM.
His office and palace would be guarded like a war
zone, and he would speak at public gatherings from a
podium secured all around with a bullet proof glass
screen. Perhaps even create a special force the
strength of a battalion equipped with the latest and
most sophisticated weapons to guard the Prime
Minister.
4. The arms theft could have been schemed by the
government to embarrass the military whose members are
increasingly pro opposition. It is believed at least
75 percent of members of the military are pro
opposition and the shift to the opposition would
continue for so long as Dr Mahathir remains as the PM.
5. Push Defence Minister Najib into a corner and a
weak defensive position. Najib had been asked by a
growing section within UMNO to lead them in an
internal party move to topple Dr Mahathir. The arms
theft somewhat undermines Najib's credibilty hence
removing to a certain extent the threat Najib poses to
Dr Mahathir's continued leadership and Abdullah
Badawi's position as heir apparent.
6. Divert the country's attention from the opposition
demands for an investigation of the abuse of power by
Dr Mahathir for stopping the ACA's investigations into
the corrupt practices of former EPU Chief, Ali Abul
Hassan as alleged by the ACA's former Chief, Datuk
Shafie Yahya. The police is believed to be carrying
out the "investigations".
7. Plant the stolen weapons and ammo in the premises
of members of the opposition or reformists. the police
would uncover the weapons at the said premises and
hence dealt a telling blow on the Reformasi Movement.
8. Create the story the weapons were stolen to be used
to storm the Sungei Buluh prison to enable Anuar
Ibrahim to escape.
This is Malaysia Boleh and Dr Mahathir had time and
again proven himself to be capable of resorting to the
dirtiest of means.
Come to think of it. There were many weapons and ammo
stolen by the 15 robbers dressed in army outfit. And
there were only three Pajeros used by the robbers. 15
robbers with all those weapons in three Pajeros Must
be jam packed like hell. Was there enough space for
fifteen men and all the weapons and ammo in just three
Pajeros?
This bit about 15 men and all those weapons and ammos
in only three Pajeros I believe is the weak point in
the whole episode which made me wonder if this is all
nothing more than a stage-managed happening.

Uglytoad has put up some very interesting and
refreshing views here on the arms heist. This type of
"educated speculation", and being so well written too,
makes trawling through this NG so worthwhile. Like our
teachers used to write in the report cards, "Keep it
up"!
Anyway; although some would, no doubt, dismiss these
views as paranoid and of the X-Files conspiracy
mentality, the fact that they *could* have some level
of truth, is enough for concern. Let's hope it
*really* is what's widely reported and believed - that
it's really a heist by real and as yet unknown
imposters, who are really what the authorities say
they are. If it's not, then God help us, for we will
go through a lot of future destruction and sufferings
while the unseen hands continue with their agendas and
deceit.

Time will tell . . . . that it is all staged . . .
Just wait, after this somebody will be made/paid to
admit . . . .
Anything at all to sideline the rakyat's attention,
even if at the expense of humilating Najib and
disgracing the Armed Forces. As long as the Firaun is
safe !!!

Response from Faruq Nelson
It's called "killing several birds with a single
stone."
1) Mahathir gets to drop suggestions that domestic
opposition or their foreign supporters are behind the
theft.
2) Public attention is distracted from allegations of
corruption and abuse of power against Mahathir.
3) Najib, the UMNO VP elected with the highest number
of votes, is taken down a peg or two as a possible
threat to the non elected UMNO president and deputy
president.
4) And for good measure, the weapons might even be
diverted to private security forces of Mahathir and/or
his cronies against the day when Mahathir finally dies
or is forced out.
5) ...?
All of these are possible, even if the theft is
genuine. How much more likely are they if the theft
has been stage-managed, as suggested.

Response from bedouin
Perchance, the move against Najib has been made and
that we will witness in the following months to come,
more incursions into the political domain of the
'silent' opposition?
The press must have received instructions from someone
in the PM's office to slam the defence minister. It
must be an 'unprecedented' moment in the freedom of
the press...?
