Kapasiti Gen-2 bukan 1.6?

Ini apa cerita pulak ni? Kalau betul memang betul proton ni cakap berdegar aje. Saya tak tau nak kira pasal bore and stroke but somebody need to clarify this. Tak dinafikan g2 absolutely berbeza dengan semua previous models tapi bila dah jadi macam ni tentu ramai yang tawar hati. Rasa macam kene tipu plak. Beli kereta 1.6 tapi sebenarnya 1.4. Ini lebih teruk dengan wira 1.5 yang guna injin MITSUBISHI 4G15.

Tapi 3000++ unit dah ada order. Mungkin proton boleh kata , walau pun 1.4 tapi performance boleh kalahkan atau paling tidak sama level dgn Vios. Yang penting, adakah perlu menyembunyikan fakta sebenar. Bukan apa, kalau bagi tau kapasiti 1.4 payah nak jual dengan harga 52k+. Competitor pulak boleh jelir lidah paling tidak mencebik. Mana nak letak maruah? Pada pendapat saya bila Proton bagi tau 1.6 jadi berbaloi le dengan harganya. Sampai bila nak tutup rahsia? Kalau nak menipu semua orang pada setiap masa mana boleh. Satu masa satu dua orang boleh le.Itu kalau cuba tipu@cakap tak jujur. Tapi kalau Proton tak ada niat begitu tak apa.

Bukan niat saya tak baik, tapi tak baik (kalau)tipu orang satu negara. Dah tu dah plan nak ekspot pulak. Saya rasa ramai yang di Malaysia nak tau perkara sebenar KALAU proton cuba sembunyikan.

Pada designer, engineer dan officer kat Proton, kalau nak buat statement pastikan homework tu dah di triple check. Kalau anda rasa anda cukup pandai, ada orang lain yang lebih pandai dari anda!!

Published CAMPRO Engine Specs Are Incorrect!

Monday, February 23, 2004 By Chips A forummer wrote in today to draw attention to the fact that the bore and stroke of the new Proton Gen.2's CAMPRO engine is wrong. The forummer had attempted to get the displacement of 1597 cc , using the bore and stroke dimensions given in press information as well as catalogues distributed to the public, but kept getting 11.5% less.

AUTOWORLD.COM.MY checked the formula he used which is pi divided by 4 (which gives a value of 0.785) multiplied by the bore squared (7.6 cm x 7.6 cm) and multiplied by the stroke (7.8 cm) and finally by the number of cylinders which is 4. It is the correct formula for calculating an engine's displacement and will give 1414.66 cc.

Calculating backwards from the displacement of 1597 cc and using the piston bore of 7.6 cm which is the size chosen for all pistons of the CAMPRO engines, it appears that there has been an error of 1.0 cm in the stroke of the engine which no one has noticed all this while - including Proton! If you use a stroke of 8.8 cm instead of 7.8 cm, you will get the 1597 cc which the engine is supposed to have.

Checking back with our much earlier story in October 2000 when Proton provided details of the CAMPRO programme (then referred to as S-ENG, for Small ENGine), Kamarulzaman bin Darus, then GM of R&D and New Platform Development, had given details of the engine bore and stroke. He said that the 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre engines would have a common bore of 7.6 cm and the stroke would be 7.34 cm for the CAMPRO 1.3 while the CAMPRO 1.6 would have an 8.8 cm stroke.

It's actually embarrassing to note that this writer, along with all other motoring journalists, had never noticed this error as we usually expect that a manufacturer would provide correct data in its spec sheets. In this case, we believe it is merely a typing error which somehow escaped notice by everyone.

Typo errors seem to bug Proton lately as their new website campaign had also been riddled with errors to the extent that the company which handled it had to place a public apology on Proton's website.

As today is a holiday, it is not possible to get a response from Proton so we'll have to wait till tomorrow. Meanwhile, get out your calculators and see if you can get 1597 cc with a stroke of 7.8 cm. Remember, you read about it here first!
